Registering Your sUAS and RID Compliance
What You Need To Know
The FAA requires the aircraft registration number to be externally affixed to the aircraft, and easily viewable on the ground without needing to disassemble or use tools. There are exceptions for the US government, Blue UAS aircraft, UAS operated outside of the USA, and home-built and very small UAVs.
The FAA requires that all aircraft not be able to take off without Remote ID in operation. If the system stops transmitting in flight, the flight control software must alert the operator, and instruct the operator to land the aircraft as soon as possible. To comply the aircraft must be a commercial grade, fully compliant system, and must be tamper resistant, FCC compliant, reliable and robustly integrated into the flight control software, aircraft, and ground control station.
Inspired Flight is ready to comply. Our sUAS Product and Engineering team is among the best in the industry. We released integrated Remote ID as an optional add-on for our US commercial customers in October 2022. Although all Inspired Flight UAS is NDAA compliant, our systems specifically granted a Blue UAS Authority to Operate (ATO) by the Defense Innovation Unit are not allowed by the DOD to have Remote ID transmission capability.
Before Registering
Each non-Blue UAS IF800 Tomcat will be pre-approved by the FAA with a Declaration of Compliance for RID.
Locate the ten digit RID serial number provided by IFT, this will be next to the QR code sticker on the aircraft.
