Connecting Batteries to the IF800 Tomcat

IB388 Connection Process

STEPACTION

1

Ensure that both new batteries are at the same SOC and active, with their indicator light blinking green.

NOTE: If a Battery Indicator Button light is not blinking green, depress the button momentarily to wake up the battery. If it does not blink green then the battery may be faulty. See Section, Battery Health.

2

Insert the new batteries into the aircraft.

3

Twist the battery lock to secure IB388 batteries.

4

Follow the instruction in Section, 'Powering On & Off the Aircraft'.

5

Verify in IGC that the battery percentage indicators have updated for the new batteries just installed and show a healthy status.

NOTE

If either battery health status indicator in IGC is red this means that Ardupilot has been unable to establish communications with the new batteries. In this case, the pre-arm check will show “unhealthy” as shown below. Reboot the aircraft.

IB388 Hot-Swapping Process

The IB388 batteries offer hot-swappable functionality, enabling operators to effortlessly replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones while in the field, without the need to power off the aircraft or payload.

STEP

ACTION

1

Ensure that both new batteries are fully charged and active, with their indicator light blinking green.

2

Remove one of the depleted batteries from the aircraft, keeping the other firmly in place.

3

Insert the first new & fully charged battery into the aircraft.

4

Remove the second depleted battery from the aircraft.

NOTE

The removed battery may show a solid red Status Button light, due to it having handed off power responsibility to the fully charged battery, prior to being removed. If so, press the Status Button to reset the battery. The Status Button light should begin to flash green. If it does not, this battery may have a fault. See Section, Battery Health.

5

Turn on the second new charged battery with the power button, ensuring the battery is blinking green.

6

Insert the new charged battery into the aircraft.

7

Twist the battery lock to secure IB388 batteries

8

Verify in IGC that the battery percentage has updated for the new batteries and shows a healthy status.

NOTE

If either battery health status indicator in IGC is red this means that Ardupilot has been unable to re-establish communications with the new batteries. In this case, the pre-arm check will show “unhealthy” as shown below. Reboot the aircraft.
